1. Who we are
This policy covers elite-ai.unitbv.ro, the website of the ELITE-AI project (Empowering Specialized Language Acquisition with Integrated AI, Erasmus+ project no. 2024-1-RO01-KA220-HED-000248845). The data controller is Transilvania University of Brașov (Universitatea Transilvania din Brașov), Bulevardul Eroilor 29, 500036 Brașov, Romania. You can reach the project team at elite-ai@unitbv.ro.
2. What cookies are
Cookies are small text files that a website stores in your browser so it can remember things between page views, such as whether you have already answered the cookie banner. Some cookies are needed for the site to work and are set without asking you. Analytics cookies are set only if you agree to them.
Strictly necessary cookies are exempt from consent under Article 5(3) of the ePrivacy Directive (2002/58/EC), as implemented in Romania by Law no. 506/2004. For analytics cookies we rely on your consent under Article 6(1)(a) of the General Data Protection Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (GDPR), and you can withdraw that consent at any time.
3. Cookies we use for visitors
We use a small number of first-party cookies. We do not use advertising cookies, and we do not sell or share visitor data with advertisers.

4. How we use Matomo
We use Matomo, an open-source web analytics tool, to count visits and see which pages and project results people use. This helps us report on the project to the funder and improve the site.
We have set Matomo up to limit what it collects. Your IP address is anonymised before it is stored, so the full address is never saved. Matomo sets only first-party cookies on elite-ai.unitbv.ro and does not follow you across other websites. The data is stored on servers operated by Transilvania University of Brașov and is not shared with third parties or used for advertising. We look at it only in aggregated reports, such as page views per month or visits by country, and detailed visit records are deleted after 1 year.
If you do not accept analytics cookies, Matomo does not set any cookies in your browser.
6. Managing your choices
On your first visit, the banner lets you accept all cookies, reject non-essential ones, or choose by category. You can change your choice at any time.
7. Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected or erased, to restrict or object to its processing, and to receive it in a portable format. Because Matomo data is anonymised and linked only to a random ID, we may not be able to find your records unless you give us that ID, which is the value of the _pk_id cookie in your browser. To exercise any of these rights, write to elite-ai@unitbv.ro.
If you believe your data has been handled unlawfully, you can complain to the Romanian supervisory authority, Autoritatea Națională de Supraveghere a Prelucrării Datelor cu Caracter Personal (ANSPDCP), at www.dataprotection.ro.
8. Changes to this policy
